Day 114 – Hot Toddy

Hello Yearlings!

I think that it’s pretty safe to say that today has been slightly miserable for everyone. I blame the incessant rain that we’ve been having as it seems to have added to the length of the workweek. It’s also been a really busy week of passings. I haven’t experienced any directly, but many of my friends and coworkers have lost someone this week and it all feels very sudden and has really set a gloomy tone to the week.

All that being said, it’s Friday and we’re here to have fun! As much as I would love to bring you guys a bright fruity cocktail to liven up this dreary day, that’s just not where my head’s at right now. What I need is a “cuppa tea” as my mother would say. In our household tea is the cure for whatever ails you. It’s like in ‘My Big Fat Greek Wedding’, but instead of Windex it’s Earl Grey.

Brew your tea very strong, then pour in your Bourbon, add a squeeze of your lemon and stir with your cinnamon stick. Serve warm and drink quickly.

Ingredients:

1 tea bag, I recommend something strong like Early Grey or Lapsang Souchong

1/2 oz Bourbon

1 large wedge of lemon

1 cinnamon stick

Hot water

This is a warm stiff drink and it will warm even the coldest cockles of your rain drenched heart. If you like bourbon more than me, which wouldn’t be hard, then you could easily use more. Just be sure to let your tea steep long enough to get really strong. Nothing ruins a perfectly good toddy faster than having flavorless watery tea.

Lots of Love,

Maya
